    Intelligent Design?

In Victoria where I live, there is a large welcome sign made of flowers. Now, I didn't see the person that designed the garden, but it was reasonable to assume the there was a brain behind the message. My point is, that information that was there makes it reasonable to infer a brain or mind behind it all, even when the event is unseen and the source is not obvious.

Intelligent design is the belief that the earth and biological life owe their existence to a deliberate and intelligent creator.
Biological systems are so complex that they must have been designed. It can't all just happen by chance. Can it?

For example, the molecular motor, the miniature motor in the cell is irreducibly complex. Scientists have found that if they remove even ONE piece of the motor...the motor ceases to work. Irreducible complexity means that it could NOT have been built step-by-step. Confusing? Read on!

Let me define the term. You can call a system COMPLEX when:
    1. It has several parts, all of which work well together, and
    2. Each part of the system performs some function.

You can call it IRREDUCIBLE if :
    3. Removing ONE part effectively makes the system stop functioning. That allows me or you to infer intelligence.
Another example is a mouse trap. Remove one part and it fails
to catch a mouse. Lucky mouse!

Just like the mouse trap, the complicated machinery in this molecular motor includes several distinct parts: a rotor, a stator, o-rings, bushings, and a drive shaft. Over 20 complex protein parts. 20 complex proteins to ASSEMBLE the motor are needed by the cell. If any ONE of these proteins is missing, the motor won't work! Darwin didn't know how complex the whole business was, did he?

There was no plan to Darwinism. It's impossible to believe that an unguided process would provide a complex support mechanism for a structure that doesn't exist yet. Added to that, a mutation like that would not be beneficial unless it has a function. It would be a waste of the cell's resources. Wouldn't this make the cell LESS fit for survival?

Say that a random mutation provided a stator first. What good is that component without the other components? Useless, I'd say. Wouldn't you? This motor only functions after ALL the parts have self-assembled. A mutation that doesn't work would most likely be weeded out like a dandelion by natural selection-rather than retained for future refinement. Who or what would decide that it be retained if it all happened by chance?

There just isn't an adequate explanation from Darwinism to explain how the molecular motor could have arisen gradually. You need ALL the parts at once in order for the motor to operate. Right? Yet the motor does exist.

I think it's obvious that there is intelligent life behind the design. At the least, it is reasonable to infer intelligence from information that is present and the presence of irreducible complexity. Of course, that's not absolute proof, but I would say that it is a REASONABLE inference. You may not be convinced about intelligent design and that's fair enough. You would have to agree that the intelligent design proposition at least deserves a place in a debate or discussion on origins. Also the case for Darwinism is chalk full of holes. Frankly, I think that an honest search will eventually lead you to ACCEPT the idea of intelligent design. All I would like you to do, if you will, is to examine the evidence on its own merit, with an open mind. Happy searching!

    The Bible: Human or Divine?

Christians don't really believe in the Bible, but in the God who is involved in their lives. The Bible is a record of how God was involved in the life of the Hebrews (Old Testament) and the Christians (New Testament) over the course of many thousands of years.

There is much that we appreciate when we read the Bible, the good advice for living, the history, and the literature. But those things are not what is most important. When we read the Bible we are looking for something we call "revelation"-the way in which God has been revealed to people.

We don't "believe in the Bible." We believe in GOD. God doesn't point to the Bible. The Bible points to God.

God has revealed himself primarily through Jesus. We learn about Jesus and the actions of God through the Bible. The Bible is not the only way we can know about God but easily the most important
    way.

Is the Bible human or divine in origin? We can answer that with complete confidence. We don't have the original biblical manuscripts. What we do have is copies. How good are they? The answer is that the Bible has stronger manuscript support than ANY other work of classical literature, including those of Caesar, Plato, Homer, Aristotle and Tacitus. The reliability of Scripture
(the Bible), is also confirmed through the eyewitness credentials of the authors both in the Old and New Testaments. Space doesn't permit me to give examples but they are there in the Bible for you to read if you wish to do so.

Secular historians-including Josephus (before A.D. 100), the Roman Suetonius (A.D. 110, and the Roman govenor Pliny the Younger (A.D. 110)- confirm the many events, people, places, and customs recorded in the New Testament. Early church leaders such as Irenaeus, Tertullian, Julius Africanus, and Clement of Rome-all writing BEFORE A.D. 250-also shed light on New Testament historical accuracy. Even skeptical historians agree that the New Testament is a remarkable historical document.

Ongoing archaeological discoveries along with careful biblical interpretation of these discoveries assert the reliability of the Bible.

In the area of prophecy, the Bible records predictions of events that could not have been known or predicted by chance or common sense. Careful research affirms the predictive accuracy of the Bible. For example, the book of Danial (written BEFORE 530 B.C.) accurately predicts the progression of kingdoms from Babylon through the Medo-Persian Empire, the Greek Empire, and then the Roman Empire, culmanating in the persecution and suffering of the Jews under Antiochus IV Epiphanes, his desecration of the temple, his untimely death, and freedom for the Jews under Judas Maccabeus (165 B.C.).

There are more prophecies about Jesus Christ than about all others.

Looking at stastistics we can say that it is statistically preposterous that any or all of the Bible's specific, detailed prophecies could have been fulfilled through chance, good guessing, or deliberate deceit. The Bible IS the Word of God, and Jesus Christ IS the Son of God, just as Scripture (the Bible) predicted many times in many ways.

So my friend, we can see that manuscripts, archaeology, prophecy, and statistics can stand up to the most ornery sceptic but also can demonstrate conclusively that the Bible is indeed divine rather than human in origin. If you're still not convinced of this then I invite you to continue on your road to discovering the one true God: the God of the Bible. Ultimately, isn't that who you want to find at the end of your journey of discovery?

    Did Jesus Really Live?

Did Jesus really live? The Bible says that: For we do not follow cunningly devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty. (2 Peter 1:16) Some say Jesus is just a myth. Was He?
Let's review some of the evidence.

First of all, there is the evidence from the Bible. The New Testament and its twenty-seven books and much Old Testament prophecy (a great deal of which was fulfilled with Christ's first coming) speaks with power about Jesus. We often accept other historians' writings without question, but if they happen to be Christian, they are somehow not to be trusted. Strange, isn't it?
Their testimony has stood the test of time and cross-examination.
They knew Jesus well and He was no myth to them.

You may wonder about testimony from outside the Bible? Fair enough. There are at least nineteen early pagan writers who refer to Jesus as a historical person. For example; Tacitus, a great historian of Rome; Pliny the Younger, one of the leaders of the Roman Empire; and Celsus the first great antagonist who wrote a whole book attacking Christianity. Tacitus wrote about Christianity and its beginnings in Judea and its spreading in spite of Christ's shameful death. Besides pagan writers acknowledging Christ's historical reality, several Jewish writings also tell of His existence. Both of the Gemaras of the
    Talmud refer to Jesus.

The evidence is clear and on the side of Christianity. Twenty-seven books of the new Testament, nineteen pagan writers, and three Jewish writers testify to Jesus Christ's historical reality. There were eyewitness accounts as well. If someone says to you that Jesus was a myth, they are undoubtedly unaware of the facts. Check them out for yourself. Don't just believe me. Christianity is based on solid facts. Virtually no scholar worthy of the name, who has researched the life of Jesus, doubts whether Jesus of Nazareth did indeed exist.

    The Resurrection

The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the greatest feat in recorded history. Through the resurrection, Jesus demonstrated that He does not stand in the line of peers with Buddha, Mohammed, or any other founder of a world religion. They died and are still dead, but Christ is risen! The resurrection is the cornerstone of the Christian religion. (1 Cor. 15:17).

The resurrection of Jesus Christ is a fact of history. The first major support for the resurrection is the empty tomb. Even the enemies of Christ had to admit that the tomb was empty. There have been many theories proposed over the years to disprove the resurrection but none have refuted the empty tomb.

The second major support for the resurrection is the appearance of Christ after the resurrection. He appeared to more than five hundred witnesses at a single time (1 Cor. 15:6). He also appeared to many other people, providing "many convincing proofs" of His resurrection (Acts 1:3). People touched his resurrected body on two occasions (Matt. 28:9; John 20:17), and He even challenged the disciples and Thomas to feel his wounds (Luke 24:39; John 20: 27).

The third major support for the resurrection is the radical transformation that took place in the lives of Christ's disciples. They were at best cowards before the resurrection. After the resurrection they were transformed into lions of faith.
Despite intense persecution and threats of cruel deaths, they testified to the truth of the resurrection. While it is conceiv- able that some might die for what they believed to be the truth, it is inconceivable that so many would die for what they knew to be false.

Not only did the resurrection of Christ transform disciples from cowards into lions of faith, but his resurrection also continues to transform lives today. Because Christ lives, the Scriptures say, we will live also. In an instant, in the twinkling of an eye, our bodies shall be transformed into resurrected bodies like unto his resurrected body.

Truly, the evidence for Christ's resurrection is so overwhelming that no one can examine it with an open mind without becoming convinced of its truth.

Is There Proof That Jesus Is God?

Can we prove that Jesus is God? Is there proof out there that God came in human form? I believe so. First, was the proof of his perfect life (see John 8:46)....Those who schemed to bring him to trial had to obtain false witnesses to bring charges, because he was blamless....

Second, there was a great deal of evidence of his power... the power only God has. He had power over the force of nature....He had power over sickness and disease....his miracles were witness to the fact that he is Lord of all nature.

Third, there was the evidence of fulfilled prophecy....Uncounted details of his life were foretold by the prophets, and in EVERY instance these prophecies were fulfilled (e.g.,Micah 5:2; Psalms 22; Isaiah 53)....

Fourth, there was the evidence of his resurrection from the dead..... As mentioned earlier, the founders of every other religion in the world are dead. Christ lives! (see 1 Corinthians 15)....

Fifth, there is proof of changed lives.... Education and discipline can do more than rub off the rough edges of human selfishness-but Christ alone, the divine Son of God, has the power to change the human heart....

Yes, Jesus Christ IS who He says He is: God himself in human form.

What Does It Mean to You?

Have you ever been lost? Or have you always supposed yourself to be perfectly all right, thank you... as good as many and better than some....quite religious. There are millions in this country who are religious but lost, and there are even more who are irreligious and lost. Have you seen yourself as a lost sinner for whom Christ died?

Scripture says it so well: "And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart' (Jeremiah 29:13). Are you seeking Him?

Do you want to know what the greatest news is in all the world? It is that "For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life" (John 3:16). When we know Him and when we continue in his Word, we know the truth, and the truth sets us free.

Is your life empty, meaningless, dull, sad, discouraged? Are you tangled in a dead-end web of humanism and skepticism? Christ is the answer, a message Evangelist Billy Graham has shared with millions of people. Christ is the One who can take away your sin, free you from its power and give you his joy. Won't you heed the good news and receive Christ into your heart?

    Salvation Message

If you have never repented from your sins and received
Jesus into your life to be your Lord and Savior, I
encourage you to invite him now. If you don't know what
words to pray, you could pray something along these
    lines:
Lord Jesus Christ, I come to you right now. I
come seeking You. I want to find You. Lord,
Son of God, Savior of men, come into my
heart right now. There is room in my heart for
You. I turn from my sins and ask that You
take your rightfull place on the throne of my
heart. Thank You that You have paid for my
sin. Take me and make me Your own. Please,
cleanse me from the sin in my life and make
me new again. In Jesus' name Amen.
If you prayed that prayer in all sincerity, you have begun
the greatest adventure on which you could ever embark.
And I would strongly urge you to read the Bible every
day and to pray. If you have not read the Bible before,
start with the Gospel of John (the fourth book of the
    New Testament).

I would also urge you to get involved with a Bible-based,
    Bible-believing church.
Once we know Jesus as our personal Lord and Savior, our
'thank you' to Him for His gift of salvation will be to
serve Him in every area of our life. Good works will
naturally flow from our lives, as good apples grow
naturally on a good apple tree.
