    The Order Of The Red Disk
    The Order Of The Red Disk came into being when I placed a red disk on
    the couch where I took the picture of the medals, to give a size
    perspective. I got so many questions relative to, "who is going to
    win the red disk?" that I decided that, indeed, the red disk SHOULD
    be "won", hence, The Order! Induction into the Order is awarded to
    players who exhibit the finest in sportsmanship and honorable conduct
    in any of the Events which I organize. Nominations for inductees are
    to be sent to me, but they will be forwarded to a secret committee
    which makes all decisions about inductions.

    I formerly had a photo of my new Drueke Players Choice set here, but I moved it out to put in this photo of my 2-year-old grandson.

    For nearly forty years I have sought this set, and now I finally have one. I now have Players Choice pieces in white, maple, red, and black. I know of only one other person who has these pieces in all four colors, and only two other owners of this set in white and black. In the course of searching for this set, I found The House of Staunton, a chess business owned by Frank Camaratta of Toney, Alabama. Frank has many beautiful sets for sale, and I just purchased a set he calls the Windsor. I bought one in ivory and black, but he also has ivory and red, natural and black, and natural and red. This set is a copy of the old Windsor Castle set sold by Chess Review in the 50's. The Chess Review pieces were of solid plastic, however, and these House of Staunton sets are lacquered wood.
